Tickets went on sale so the NEXT day, I decided to check out what tables were open. I was hoping to snag a chair on Duffy Brown's table. Duffy's a cozy mystery writer, like me, and I was excited to meet her.
Besides, Tess Gerritsen was going to be the keynote speaker. Tess is great, funny and entertaining. I decided I'd go.
There were three seats left. Not three seats on Duffy's table. Three seats out of the five hundred they'd set aside.
So I nabbed a seat with Kimberly Lang, a contemporary romance writer who specializes in Southern settings.
Best decision I ever made.
Not only did I learn a lot about marketing and branding over the weekend, I had a chance to relax after a stressful first quarter. And I won a pretty amazing door prize, entry to and lodging for Heather Graham's conference in September in New Orleans.
Now that was worth the five hour drive and the price of admission.
And I got to meet an author I'd launched my career at Crimson Romance with - Kate Fellows.
