Progress on this is definitely not in a straight line, but we've persisted. I could see from my students that we have "come a long way" -- not all the way -- but far.<br />When we read A DOLL'S HOUSE, students couldn't fathom why Nora would put up with bullying. When my colleague's wife got a raise that had her earning more than he did, he was untroubled, and then polled his students, who were amazed that anyone would mind more money in a family budget. My Shakespeare class initiated a discussion of feminism, looked up the definition to check my accuracy, and unanimously voted that they were all feminists. Hope! <3Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
